Located adjacent to Route 123, near
the intersection of University Drive, the George Mason University Recreation/Sports
Complex is one of the most visible facilities on the
Fairfax Campus and serves as a symbol of welcome to the
university. The Recreation/Sports Complex includes 110,000 square feet of indoor space. Indoor facilities include courts for basketball, tennis, and volleyball, along with a 200-meter, six-lane track. Also included are eight handball/racquetball courts, a weight room, locker rooms, saunas, and staff offices. Outdoor facilities include a 5,000-seat soccer and track stadium; a 400-meter, eight lane track; a baseball stadium; and practice fields. |

| ADMISSION TO FACILITY | |||||
| Access to the Recreation/Sports Complex (RSC) requires a valid student, faculty, staff or Patriot Club identification card. ID cards are not transferable and may be used only by the person to whom it is issued. | |||||
| GUEST POLICY | |||||
| Guest privileges are extended to students,
faculty, staff, and Patriot Club members. Because of
space limitations, members are permitted two guests each
per day. There is a five dollar ($5) fee for each guest.
This fee is payable at the front desk at the time the
guest is registered. The person sponsoring a guest assumes responsibility for equipment issued to their guest and must accompany the guest during their stay in the building. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Membership opportunities for those non-affiliated individuals, alumni, or groups interested in using the facility are offered through the Patriot Club. For more information, call (703) 993-3215. |

| LOCKER ROOM FACILITIES AND POLICIES | |||||
| Locker
rooms are equipped with lockers, showers, saunas, hair
dryers, and restrooms. Locker rentals are available for
continuous storage at a cost of $10 per year. Rentals are
made through the Field House office on a first-come,
first-served basis. Assignments begin September 1 and go through July 31. Lockers must be vacated August 1 through August 31. Day lockers are available during these times. Note: For the consideration and comfort of other people, please keep all contents within the locker clean, dry, and neat. All equipment and personal belongings are stored at your own risk. RSC assumes no responsibility for personal belongings that are lost or stolen. |

| EQUIPMENT RENTAL AND CHECK OUT | |||||
| There is a limited supply of basketballs and volleyballs available for recreational activity at no charge. There is a rental fee of $2 per racquetball racket and $1 per racquetball. Equipment may be borrowed or rented by depositing your identification card at the front desk. | |||||
| COURT RESERVATION | |||||
| Reservations
may be made up to 48 hours in advance for racquetball and
tennis courts. Call (703) 993-3222, Monday through
Saturday between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m., and Sunday from noon
to 8 p.m. When making a reservation, you must first give your first and last name, social security number or Patriot Club pass number, and your partner's name. Please indicate if your partner is a guest. When checking in at the front desk for court assignments, all players listed on the reservation must show their ID cards to the front desk attendant. If the names on the ID cards do not match those on the reservation, the court will be forfeited. If you cannot play, you must cancel at least one hour in advance so the court may be reassigned. Any person accumulating more than two uncancelled forfeitures will lose reservation privileges. Reservations may be made only be a student, faculty, staff, or Patriot Club member with a valid ID card. Only one reservation per person per day is allowed. Racquetball and tennis reservations are scheduled for one hour beginning on the half hour (7:30-8:30, 8:30-9:30, etc.). |

| COURT USE | |||||
The various
courts are clearly marked to enable you to locate
scheduled activities. We insist that the following
regulations be observed by those using the Field House:

| WEIGHT ROOM | |||||
| The weight
room provides an excellent choice of equipment. A
combination of resistance machines, free weights, bikes,
rowers, and a variety of other exercise options are
available. A weight room staff member is available to
demonstrate proper use of equipment. All participants must wear shirts and rubber-soled shoes. No horseplay or obscenities are permitted. No food, drink, tobacco products, radios, or cassette players are allowed. An ID card is required to check out weight lifting equipment. Participants assume the risk associated with weight equipment. Please use spotters when lifting free weights. Do not use equipment without proper knowledge and instruction. |

| TRAINING ROOM | |||||
| The training room is operated by the Athletic Department for care and treatment of student athletes only. | |||||
| LIABILITY | |||||
| Any injury or
accident must be reported immediately to the building
manager. The university assumes no responsibility for
injuries incurred in the RSC, including participation in
intramural, recreational activity, etc. The university strongly recommends that anyone undertaking a program of vigorous physical activity undergo a complete physical examination. Participants are reminded that their involvement is totally voluntary and entered into at their own risk It is recommended that all participants procure adequate medical insurance prior to using the facility. |
