Jasmine Goffe of the George Mason women's basketball team has been named the Athlete of the Week.
Goffe, a 6-0 forward from nearby Alexandria, VA, had a solid week leading the Patriots to two straight victories.
The junior turned in back-to-back double figure performances, scoring 13 points at Coppin State and then scoring 13 points vs. William & Mary.
At Coppin State, Goffe went 6-for-8 from the field and also added five rebounds, three assists and two steals in an excellent all-around game.
In Friday's Colonial Athletic Association game vs. William & Mary Goffe went 6-for-9 from the field and also repeated with five rebounds. She added two assists one blocked shot and one steal.
Goffe has now started in 14 of the 18 games this season and is averaging 5.4 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. She ranks second on the team in assists averaging 1.8 per game. She's also second on the squad from the foul line shooting 82 percent (27-of-33).
Earlier this season against Seton Hall (12/4/97) Goffe had a career-high 20 points and converted a career-high 10-of-11 free throws.
She has played in 72 games and started in 50 of them over her career. With 333 rebounds, Goffe ranks No. 23 in the Patriot record books. She also ranks No. 16 for blocked shots with 29.
Goffe and the Patriots (9-9, 3-5 CAA) are in action tonight at George Washington (11-6, 6-2 A-10) at 7:00 pm. They return home on Friday to host UNCW at 7:00 pm and on Sunday vs. East Carolina at 4:30 pm for a game to be televised on HTS.
